Environmental Operations, Inc – Phase II Remediation and Compliance Technician

Environmental Operations, Inc. (“EOI”) is a turn-key environmental consulting firm. We work with various industries across the country including Real Estate, Finance, Strategic Development, Institutional, Healthcare, Industrial, Municipal, and Utility.

EOI is looking for a Phase II Remediation and Compliance Technician to join our due diligence and remediation team. This position is primarily responsible for Phase II site investigation activities. Those activities primarily include field sampling and preparation, sub-contractor coordination, and field data collection. In addition, Phase II activities include the use of various forms of field sampling instruments and equipment including surveying equipment, photoionization detector (PID), groundwater pumps, oil-water interface meters, and water quality meters. This role is primarily located in the field with limited time in the office setting. This role requires knowledge of Excel, gINT, and CADD systems to help document sampling information and analytical results for interpretation by Project Managers. 

Our office is located in St. Louis, MO with a satellite location in Elmhurst, IL and Indianapolis, IN. this position would be located in our St. Louis headquarters.

Qualifications:

  • Has strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Has a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or a related field;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge in CADD and gINT preferred;
  • Ability to adapt to extreme working conditions, including weather and temperature;
  • Flexible work schedule subject to project scope;
  • Ability to travel and potentially work off-hours required;
  • Must possess a current, valid driver’s license;
  • Extremely organized and task oriented.

 

Responsibilities:

(70 %) Performs Phase II site specific investigation activities. This work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Soil and groundwater sample collection through manual methods or assisted by a drill auger;
  • Soil gas vapor sample collection;
  • Methane gas sampling and monitoring;
  • Oversight of UST removal and associated sampling;
  • Waste characterization;
  • Field data collection and recording;
  • Overseeing exposure levels of environmental contaminants at job sites;
  • Managing volatile air quality readings utilizing a PID;
  • Site surveying to recording sampling location information;
  • Implementation of various remediation objectives.

 

(15%) Coordinates resources needed to complete field testing at the project site. This work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Coordination with various Project Managers to firm up project scope and address any limitations;
  • Reviewing sampling and remediation plans;
  • Coordination of project scope and schedule with other Phase II technicians;
  • Coordinating labor, equipment, and subcontractors to ensure the project is properly staffed and the correct equipment is on-site;
  • Laboratory coordination;
  • EOI warehouse coordination;
  • Coordination with State and Local entities;
  • Permit review;
  • Coordination with utility locates and/or utilities;
  • On-site coordination with property owners and/or their representatives;
  • Maintenance and care of sampling equipment owned or rented by EOI.

 

(13%) Project reporting, closure, and follow-up. This work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Field data reporting;
  • Inputting boring log data into gINT software;
  • Coordination with CADD technician;
  • Assistance with CADD drawings;
  • Updating and recording survey information;
  • Project follow-up with Project Manager;
  • Various record keeping activities.

(2%) Performs administrative tasks. This work may include, but is not limited to:

  • Assisting with proposal generation and invoicing
  • Attending meetings and trainings
  • Interaction with Clients as needed 

Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. Our starting salary for this position is $40,000 with a six-month salary review for the first year and annually thereafter. We offer weekly pay and medical, dental, and vision benefits. EOI has a competitive 401k plan that all employees are eligible for after 6 months of consistent employment. Our employees accrue vacation and personal days annually, in addition to several paid holidays.
